Gaylard Court, Berwick
Stunning views come from hillside living, accompanied with very steep blocks! Combined with an interestingly shaped block, made this project challenging in both the design realm and construction.
The pool design incorporated a negative edge corner so the stunning views can be maximised whilst swimming or frolicking in the pool. Backed by a row of Laurus nobilis (Bay Tree) which will grow and flourish into a soft green hedge, bluestone random pattern was the perfect solution to handle the many angles of the property. The concrete render pool & retaining walls create a clean and modern feel which contrasts the vivid green of Asparagus densiflorus ‘Myersii’ (Foxtail Fern) and 3 levels of lawn.
The curved spotted gum deck is now a platform to spend long summer nights watching the sunset, cooking up a feast and enjoying the view of both the new landscape and surrounding nature into the distance.
A creative design outlook steeped in knowledge of building regs had to be called upon for this project. Once a steep, sloped backyard is now a multi-level oasis for the adults, children and lucky dogs to enjoy.
