Water in the garden

Water features are a beautiful addition to the landscape. They create a soothing ambience and are a focal point of a garden design. There are many different styles to choose from, with an almost overwhelming amount available over the internet. Bayon Gardens actually builds our water features from scratch, so they are specifically tailored to the house theme, landscape design and built to last.

This is an example of one of our recent water features built from scratch.

We wanted to create a natural looking water feature here, so the use of carefully selected large rocks were used. Using such large natural stone has a dramatic impact to the senses, instantly drawing you away from the hustle and bustle of city living, and bringing you into the present oasis of your landscaped garden. A place to unwind, relax and entertain.

The other dramatic impact the large heavy stone has, is on the building and engineering side! The stone could not be lifted by humans, an excavator was used to bring them in. Due to the sheer weight, steel reinforced conrete was used for footings to prevent any movement. Each piece of stone was cut strategically, so when placed together, it created a natural look. Hiding from the eye, a channel was cut up the back of the stone for the water sheer to sit in. Pumps, lights & electrics are all fed up the back of the rock water basin.

From the moment you enter the front door, due to the design of the house, you can see straight through the house to the water feature which makes the feature not only part of the landscape design, but also having effect on the interior design of the home. The sound of this water feature instantly transports you to an impressive water fall in an exotic location.

There are so many styles of water features we can create, we take in the design of your home, the design theme of the garden and most importantly the feeling you are wanting to experience when you enter your garden.
